thank you! i use Paint Tool Sai most of the time with Photoshop CS5 for some additional clean up. and erm, it was a mix of years of doodling, looking at naked people studying anatomy, mashing my favorite artists’ styles together and taking classes?? ( ⊙ з⊙)b

OH BOY no i don’t have a palette. i probably really should but i forget a lot so umm. really just try to stay as vibrant as you can. i have this problem where my colors end up going all pastel-y and pale, so i have to keep reminding myself to choose the most neon color and i kind of subconsciously dull it down anyway. then i just color-pick from my existing color vomit on the canvas. also, using the dodge and burn tools or playing around with the saturation levels do help a bit, but don’t go overboard.

a bit of color theory also works wonders. tbh i’m actually not that great at this whole coloring business but heeey hope that helps? 8D?

edit; there’s this other thing i’ve seen going around where you switch on color dynamics for your brush, then just pick a color & draw a streak. it can come up with a pretty interesting palette. i’ve yet to try it out but it looks pretty fun.

thank you very much! u w u here are my sai settings. i do play around with the blending & persistence, but it’s usually around here. same with water tool. otherwise umm, i use default on gimp, and i haven’t done much besides lining in photoshop so that’s default too.

If you mean off photos, then yes, but it’s one of those things I prefer not to do and may charge extra for. On the other hand, I’m more willing to attempt to draw a character off a ref sheet realistically.

aww, thank you! according to my imageshack, I think my digital doodles go back to 2006, so I was ten. otherwise, it’s a bit hard to say since I’ve always liked to doodle here and there. I would like to think it all started when I decided to draw on my face in sharpie when I was 3 lol;;
